Stable Cottage at Ballinkeele House

If you prefer to do your own thing why not stay at Stable Cottage?  A freshly renovated 2-bedroom period cottage with beautiful enclosed garden & patio to rear. It is part of the stable yard, where 1889 Grand National winner Frigate was stabled. Surrounded by a 330 acre estate, with gardens & walks.  A lovely cosy space to call your own while you explore Ireland’s Ancient East with it’s myriad beaches and heritage sites.

The house has 2 bedrooms – sleeps 4 adults in 1 Double bed & 2 Twin beds.  The house can also fit maximum of 2 children in travel cots (2 can be provided depending on availablity).  There is a newly fitted kitchen with new appliances and it has all the pots, pans & gadgets to cook meals like you would at home.

Rates & Booking

€120 per night – 2 night minimum stay.  25% weekly discount, 50% monthly discount. Credit card required for booking – Deposit of €100 taken.

Stable Cottage is a self contained house in the stable yard with private enclosed back garden and patio area – ideal for a BBQ (there is one provided) and for children to play while parents relax. You can walk the extensive grounds of Ballinkeele with lake, ponds, walled garden and woodland walks. There is a children’s playground near the main house.

Your hosts Val & Laura and their 4 children live in the main house about 500 metres from the cottage. To check-in, please drive up to the main house and ring the bell and we will accompany you down to the house and show you around. We are available most of the time. Please bear in mind that morning & evening are very busy with breakfast & dinner for guests resident in the main house, so we would appreciate it if you could avoid these times.

Stable Cottage is one mile from the local village of Ballymurn, which has a church, garage with a small well stocked supermarket and a pub. You can wander the extensive grounds of Ballinkeele with lake, ponds, walled garden and woodland walks. There is a children’s playground near the main house. It is very quiet and you are only likely to be woken by birdsong or the odd tractor.

The house is 1 mile from Ballymurn village, 6 miles from Enniscorthy & 10 miles from Wexford town. You really need your own transport as there is no public transport nearby from the village.

You are welcome to wander the grounds to your hearts content – bringing your wellies (rubber boots) may be a good idea if the weather is wet. We’re 6 miles from Enniscorthy & 10 miles from Wexford and 8 miles from Curracloe Beach with it’s long stretch of sandy beach and dunes. Val & Laura know the area well and are always happy to help recommend places to visit & eat.
